IRAN ADMITS SENDING REVOLUTIONARY GUARD TROOPS INTO SYRIA, LEBANON

The commander-in-chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards is now admitting sending special forces to Syria.

Mohammad Ali Jafari, speaking to reporters in Tehran, says he sent special forces called the Quds to Syria and Lebanon to act as advisors. He expressed continued support of Syria, saying his forces are proud to protect the country.

Jafari’s remarks have been seen as proof of Iran’s influence in Syria.

The United States classifies the Quds as a terrorist organization.

Jafari also said a US-led military exercise that started Sunday in the Persian Gulf poses no threat to Iran.

The commander-in-chief threatened to close the Straits of Hormuz if Iran is attacked.
