Gunmen attack pro-Assad Syrian TV

TALK RADIO NEWS SERVICE

Gunmen have attacked a Syrian pro-government TV channel, killing seven people, state media say. Journalists and security guards apparently died in the attack on Ikhbarriya TV south of Damascus

Hours earlier, President Assad said Syria was in “a real state of war” as U.S. intelligence officials predicted a long drawn-out struggle.

The UN’s deputy envoy on Syria says the violence has “reached or surpassed” levels before the April ceasefire deal. The BBC says Syrian TV ran live coverage of the attack on Ikhbarriya TV. Syria’s information minister said some of the victims had been abducted, bound and killed in cold blood.

The attacks comes after fierce clashes in suburbs of Damascus, described by opposition activists as the worst there so far. Dozens of people were killed.
