Jewish groups pressure congressman over get

Protest outside the home of a relative of Friedman's in Brooklyn was covered by JN1

A number of Jewish organizations are asking a Michigan congressman to pressure his administrative aide to grant his ex-wife a get.

The groups are upset that Aharon Friedman, an adviser to Rep. David Camp, won’t give the get to his wife, from whom he is civilly divorced.

They argue that Friedman’s refusal to give his ex-wife, Tamar Epstein, a get constitutes a form of domestic abuse, because, under Orthodox law, she cannot remarry or have another child.
